Our final shopping trip of the summer, was to Rowland Heights and West Covina. I got the chance to plan our trip, so we went to Marukai Market (wheee for Asian products!) in West Covina, Rowland Heights Garden Cafe, Takashima Discount Store, and the Cue! store in Diamond Bar Plaza. I picked up some eyelash glue and green tea chocolates (surprisingly yummy!) from Marukai. For lunch, we hit up Rowland Heights Garden Cafe for some Hong Kong dining. It was superb; we ordered the baked spaghetti and spicy chicken wings with pasta. Along with the meal, I got an English Milk Tea, which was strong and quite invigorating, and received a complimentary cream soup. The Takashima Discount Store wasn't much of a discount store as most of their items were quite pricey, but so so so cute. We were in there for nearly an hour, and after gushing over all their Rilakkuma products (and sneaking photos), I bought a Rilakkuma doll that I adore. I've always loved and wanted a Rilakkuma doll, so checked off my bucket list!
On our way to Diamond Bar Plaza for Cue!, we stopped in at Half & Half for boba. I got an Almond Milk Tea boba, while my aunt and cousin got a Milk Tea boba and a Chocolate Milk Tea boba. We then proceeded to model our most recent purchases with our boba :D Cue! with Cayli was super fun. She asked if we could take 10 purikura shots, but I had to tell her no haha Nevertheless, she's actually pretty talented at decorating the purikura pictures. Oddly enough, she happened to wear a green shirt so she blended in with the background on every shot. She's my Cue! buddy whenever we wanna take purikura pictures!

On a shopping trip back in mid-summer, my aunt, cousin, and I ate at a mom-and-pop Mexican restaurant whose name has sadly slipped my mind. They served one mean wet burrito that left me nearly bursting. Even Tuxedo Sam wanted some!
Marukai Market is a favorite place of mine because of their asian food selections and imported Japanese beauty products. If you've never been, I suggest you go. I think I've been to every Marukai in the vicinity... I'm also a sucker for cute asian products, so I caved and bought thess Rilakkuma cookies. But they're so cute that I haven't even eaten them yet! As you can tell, Rilakkuma is my favorite character. Also, my aunt gave me this Hello Kitty shirt a couple Christmases ago, but it was too big so it never got must wear. Recently, I decided to take a pair of scissors to it and create a boatneck. Needless to say, I wear it constantly now.

Happy 1 1/2 Birthday to my blog! (and thank you to my readers)

First off, Happy Birthday to Je M'appelle Moi blog! It's my blog's 1 1/2 year birthday and I couldn't be more happy with the place that it is in now.
Blogging has been a real journey for me, from figuring out the processes of taking and editing photo and adjusting html to creating a certain aesthetic for my blog. I love blogging; it's my way of branching out and being creative with my takes on fashion. It's something I look forward to doing every day (if I don't post daily, then I'm editing photos and prepping for future posts). Blogs and blogging are essential parts of my daily life, I'm either working on stuff for my blog or I'm reading other amazing fashion blogs (like this one that I'm currently obsessed with!)
Now onto you guys... I recently discovered how to monitor how many people view my blog. Turns out, I'm receiving views throughout North America and in Alaska and Eastern Europe! It's rather surprising to see how many views my blog is receiving per post and overall by the day. So I wanted to say, thank you to everyone who's been reading my blog. I really appreciate it. I've been blogging for the past 1 1/2 years (gosh I can't believe it's been over a year now!) just because I love fashion and writing about how I interpret new fashion trends. So to see how many people actually look at my blog is really breathtaking and motivating. I'm looking forward to my blog's 2nd birthday in March, but until then HAPPY 1 1/2 YEAR BIRTHDAY TO MY BLOG :) Thank you to you all for reading my posts about my daily outfits, triumphant shopping finds, random tidbits and facts about my life, and just how I've changed throughout the course of my blog.

Forever21 boxy sweater top, Mom's black maxi skirt (I love my mom's closet, it's the ultimate treasure trove), Urban Outfitters necklace, Aldo boots
Maxi vs. mini... The mini has had its season to shine, and now it's the maxi's turn. Super comfy outfit to wear to school, just not the easiest outfit for fast walking. Turns out that maxi skirts are a slight constriction when it comes to long strides. But still, this maxi is super comfy and it's surprisingly warm. Yay for Fall variation!
Fall is OFFICIALLY HERE! I'm beyond excited for fall fashion. Get ready for the hemlines to drop.

If you couldn't already tell... I'm now a freshman at CSULB! I was asked to do a post about my 'college life', so voila. CSULB has campus signs on all four corners of the campus (and then some), and it is the size of THREE DISNEYLANDS! Talk about leg muscles right? CSULB has one of the only pyramids in the U.S. and the best gym I've ever been in. The Student Recreation and Wellness Center is one of my favorites places on campus (and also where I spend my 3 1/2 hours gaps), it's completely free to students who already pay for it in their tuition and it's packed with various workout machines, a basketball court, racquet ball courts, a rock wall, beach volleyball court, swimming pool, indoor track, yoga rooms, and tons of classes you can sign up for. In terms of my classes, I'm taking a total of 16 units (6 classes) Monday- Thursday. I'm taking classes like Human Development, Comparative World Literature, Journalism 101- Intro to Mass Media, Listener's Approach to Music, College of Liberal Arts (C/LA which is like an 8 week orientation class to get you immersed into college), and Math 109. There are so many options for food on campus (and Cha for Tea across the street, I love this place) that I'm not surprised how freshman pack on the pounds. But I am determined to stay healthy and fit as a college student! So I'm packing healthy lunches and visiting the gym daily when I'm at school. In all honest, I love my school and now I know that everything truly happens for a reason. GO BEACH!
Since it's a bit difficult to lug my D3000 around campus, I included a couple "Life on the Go" iTouch photos I took. I'm thinking of making a weekly "Life on the Go" post on how life at CSULB is. Pictured from my iTouch are shots of me in the library studying, my favorite pick-me-up: a Starbucks Iced Black Tazo Tea sweetened with soymilk (it always makes my day), relaxing and studying in the Student Union's atrium with a Robeks smoothie, and a photo of me en route to school wearing my first make-up investment– Urban Decay's 24 Hour Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner, which I LOVE.
In addition, I included a photo of my new UO trap ring, which I have been wearing obsessively since it arrived in the mail. It was a great deal, and I can wear it so many different ways (love it!).
Lastly, always remember to eat a wholesome breakfast! I love waffles topped with fresh strawberries, full of grains and fruit.

New Blog Header

The amazing, gorgeous, talented NICO NONLES created a new blog header for my blog, as you can see above. This girl is stunningly talented; an up and coming breakdown artist who already has her own website packed with her unique and completely individual art. She's a force to be reckoned with as she twists artistic perception to be seen through her own whimsical eye. Though she's an aspiring graphic designer, her photography skills are stunning. If you remember, she did a photoshoot for me here. She's also working on a t-shirt business, so keep your eyes open for this girl.
Check her out at http://nicononles.com/

"Forever in debt to your priceless advice"

As I am now commuting to college, I have to get up pretty early to brush up, get dressed, make breakfast, prepare my lunch, and pack up my school bag and gym bag for the day. Often times, I get a little frazzled about what I should wear. Seeing that my school is "the size of three Disneylands", the number one factor is comfort (meaning flat shoes). Getting dressed for school can be a bit of a challenge, especially since this is only third week of school. However, I came to the conclusion that as long as only unique and versatile pieces that you LOVE LOVE LOVE remain in your wardrobe, you'll always look chic and cute. So today, I tried out my own conclusion and just put on what I felt comfortable and amazing in, which lead to donning my favorite H&M leopard blouse tucked into these 1989 GAP black shorts (that I got for a steal! wheeee!) plus some sheer tights and flats. Low and behold, I got more compliments today than the past three weeks combined.
I've also recently gotten a bit bored with my make-up routine– or lack thereof since I only wear Shisiedo sunblock (SPF 60), Covergirl Lashblast Mascara, and a bit of lip balm. So I decided to switch it up and throw on some lip color. I'm wearing Lancome's OOH LA LA! Metallic, and I adore it! It adds so much spunk and attitude into what could be just a casual outfit. I love the muted shimmery color. I'll be trying out more lip color options from now on.
Don't be afraid to experiment! Don't let youth be wasted on the young.
My title is from the Nirvana song Heart-Shaped Box, which I'm been obsessively listening to as I navigate the campus.
